While Americans were taking the day off with their families a menacing Tropical Storm was working hard building strength.

Tropical Storm Hanna is predicted to become a Hurricane and slam into the eastern seaboard.

The projected path of Hanna is expected to cover the following states; Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virgina, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. We’ve prayed for those in living in the path of the storm to come. I’m sure the people in those states will appreciate your prayers as well.

3 years after Katrina, Home Owners continue to fight with Big Name Home Builders seeking recovery from damages due to home builder neglect and poor construction.

05/13/08, Michael, from Pittsburgh, PA blasts Maronda Homes [a National Home-builder] on Consumer Reports Website. I worked for them, for 3 months, answering phones and taking messages. I had to listen to angry people complain about how their homes fell apart every day. They build their homes out of inferior materials don’t up hold their warranties, and steal peoples money if they [the consumer] backs out of the contract”. Stories from Florida report the same problems with this giant home builder and many other businesses as well.

Numerous contractors, tree trimmers, water removal companies and even local convenience stores have all been busted ripping Consumers off After Hurricanes. THIS JUST IN: Today it was reported that a man was charged $21 for a Coke and two Snickers Candy Bars. True story.

HURRICANE SCAMS WARNING: After a major storm, Honor is often erased and replaced by greed and lust for profit.
Here’s what the Federal Bureau of Investigations [FBI] had to say about price gouging:

“The price-gouging rule covers, but is not limited to: water, food, medicines, sanitation supplies, utilities, lodging, and materials, goods or services for clean-up or repair. Complaints about possible price-gouging may be filed with local authorities or the Attorney Generals Office”.

In my opinion, Price gouging is the biggest threat to your financial survival before, during and especially in the aftermath of any significant storm.

In yesterdays blog, post I shared the Florida Law against price gouging. Your State should have anti price gouging laws as well. Check with your States Attorney General.
