You may have heard of LIFELOCK Identity Theft Protection Service. You may not have heard that the company’s founder, Robert Maynard, Jr – resigned in June 2008 after his I.D. was stolen. Wired.com’s Kim Zetter uncovered this knowledge-worthy nugget,
“CEO Davis has himself been a victim of identity theft recently. According to spokesman Mike Prusinski, someone used the CEO’s Social Security number — which is prominently displayed in advertisements for LifeLock’s identity theft protection commercials and on its web site— at a Ft. Worth check cashing operation to obtain a $500 loan.”
Again, LIFELOCK Founder Mr. Robert Davis Jr. has resigned. He needed to take time off to “clear his name”. Clearing your name after an I.D. Theft takes an average of 2 to 5 years. I sincerely wish Mr. Davis the best of luck.
It gets worse for his company, LIFELOCK. Consumers in Texas, West Virginia, and New Jersey have filed Class Action Law Suits Against LIFELOCK so far.
Experian Sues LIFELOCK. Bob Sullivan covers Internet scams and consumer fraud for MSNBC.com. He did an outstanding job covering the story in the Red Tape Chronicles Blog.
“In the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court on Feb. 13, Experian contends that LifeLock’s advertising is misleading and that the firm is breaking federal law in the way it goes about protecting consumers.”
LIFELOCK has over 700,000 thousand customers. If find this outrageous! Why haven’t they been shut down? The Founder of an I.D. Theft Service has his stolen. There is a major problem with the service.
LIFELOCK uses a lot of propaganda. Conversative Talk Show Host like; Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingram and Dennis Miller endorse LIFELOCK. This is a shame.

- Can you really trust LIFELOCK after it’s CEO’s I.D was stolen?
- How can LIFELOCK protect your identity when they can’t protect their own Founders?
- What will you do when LIFELOCK fails you?
- How many years are you willing to spend ‘clearing your name’?
